Rain Overnight with NWS Wind Advisory Starting at 4 AM Friday; 50 MPH Wind Gusts Possible

KERRVILLE — The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Wind Advisory for all of South Central Texas, including Kerr County, from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Forecasters expect sustained north winds of 25 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph.
But first, the area is expected to see some rain after 1 a.m. Friday morning.

The wind advisory covers 34 counties. Across the Hill Country, that includes Kerr, Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Real, Edwards, Blanco, Llano, Burnet, Medina, Uvalde and Comal counties, as well as the San Antonio and Austin metro areas. Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Bandera, Boerne, Leakey, Rocksprings and Llano are among the cities named in the alert.
What to expect
The weather service warns that the winds will be strong enough to blow around unsecured objects and could bring down tree limbs.
Driving may also get difficult, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles such as trucks, vans, RVs and trailers. Forecasters are urging motorists to use extra caution on Friday.
What to do tonight
Bring in or tie down trash cans, lawn furniture, trampolines, holiday decorations and other loose outdoor items. Give yourself extra room and time on the road Friday, particularly when you’re towing or driving something tall. Watch for downed limbs on roads and near power lines.
The advisory is set to expire at 7 p.m. Friday. Kerrville Breaking News will update this story if conditions change.
